BIRMINGHAM CITY VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool will have to put their Champions League dream to one side as they bid to confirm fourth place in the Premier League at relegation threatened Birmingham City. The Reds moved eight points clear of closest rivals Everton courtesy of last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Fulham and one more victory for Rafael Benitez’s side would completely guarantee the fourth and final Champions League berth. Benitez has already admitted he will look to make full use of his squad in the last three league matches of the season and knows that even a point would make it almost impossible for the Toffees to overturn their advantage, given our superior goal difference. While the Reds will no doubt have one eye on the Champions League second leg at Chelsea, Birmingham go into the contest knowing that it is a must-win game if they are retain any hope of survival. Alex McLeish’s side were humiliated 5-1 at Aston Villa in the Birmingham derby last time out and are currently one point from safety. But the former Scotland boss will be looking for an immediate response from his players and Liverpool will have to be on their guard if they are to secure fourth before the final two matches of the season. from liverpoolfc.tv ———————————————– Live streams 15:00 GMT [English Premier League]Birmingham City – Liverpool Stream #1[En] OR Stream #2[En] OR Stream #3[En]from livefooty —————————- Goals Clip : BIRMINGHAM CITY VS LIVERPOOL

It is reported that Swiss international full back Philipp Degen is one of the reported three signings Rafa Benitez has already secured for this summer. 25 year old Degen is currently at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga having previously played for FC Basle and was in the Switzerland squad in the World Cup 2006. His contract expires with Dortmund this summer and is available as a Bosman signing. He is said to be technically sound right back but can also play on the left side if required. Newstalk 106 had a German correspondent on their show on Wednesday night who responded to talk of Philip Lahm rumours by indicating that the deal for Degen has been done. Degen has played as a right winger at some stage in his career but is described as an attacking but strong full back where he has been used most by Dortmund since joining them in 2005. from thisisanfield.com

From one trilogy of matches against a Premier League side… to another. Yes, that’s right, after sensationally seeing off Arsenal in the last eight of the Champions League, Chelsea are once again the side standing in the way of what could be yet another European Cup final adventure for the Travelling Kop. We came out on top in 2005 and did it again in 2007 – but can we make it a hat-trick? Or will it be third time lucky for the Blues? There’s no Special One to contend with in 2008 and in Fernando Torres the Reds have arguably the most in-form striker in Europe. But for all the optimism surrounding our hopes of progress to Moscow it is perhaps important to note that we have drawn two and lost one of our three meetings with the Blues this season, and we will have to improve upon that in matches four and five if we are to maintain our hopes of a sixth European crown come May 21. from liverpoolfc.tv ——————————————————————————- Live Streams 19:45 GMT [UEFA Champions League 1/2 Final]Liverpool – Chelsea |
